We are delighted to introduce our Newest Councillor for Mullingar West Electoral Area. Cllr Avril Whitney was co-opted on to Westmeath County Council to fill the seat held by Robert Troy TD.
She replaces Niamh Kiernan who was coopted onto the council following Deputy Troy’s election to Dail Eireann.
However Ms Kiernan resigned earlier this month to concentrate on her business interests.
Cllr Whitney - A primary teacher - was one of three young Fianna Fail members who put their names forward to sit on Westmeath County Council in the Mullingar West area.
She has been appointed to the Housing, Arts and Culture SPC.
Her family have had a long association with Fianna Fail, and Avril is keen to get started in her role and become part of the Fianna Fail team on Westmeath County Council. Avril will serve in the Mullingar West Electoral Area alongside Cllr Ken Glynn.
