Mullingar Town Council Motions Update

Posted by Cllr Ken Glynn

Questions from Mullingar Town Council Meeting:

2.5 Cllr.Glynn: To ask Westmeath County Council to provide litter bins in Raithin, in the vicinity of the main green area.

Reply: Mullingar Area Office does not provide litter bins in housing estates.

As a result of me raising this Council has assured me that they will support in any way litter prevention in any residential area in consultation with resident associations.

2.6 Cllr.Glynn: To ask Westmeath County Council what contact it has made with residents in Belvedere Hills and Rathgowan Wood regarding the taking in charge of these estates.

Reply: The taking in charge process commenced for these estates in April 2012 and the Council’s Legal & Enforcement section have written to Residents Associations where details are known.

I received commitment that every house in these areas would be leaflet drop explaining the process,I will not accept anything less and until this happens process is not going anywhere.

2.7 Cllr.Glynn: To ask Westmeath County Council to fully reinstate and enhance the entrance to Ardleigh Crescent, to the satisfaction of the local residents, following the works which were recently carried out.

Reply: Works have been completed.

Council are to carry out additional works at my request on behalf of the residents association.

2.8 Cllr.Glynn: To ask Westmeath County Council to immediately bring forward plans to replace the stone wall in Ardleigh Vale, which has proved easy to damage and has been unsuccessful as a boundary wall.

Reply: This wall forms a common boundary with Ardleigh Vale and Woodlands. Mullingar Area Office is following up on this matter and will be seeking the assistance of the residents in Woodlands before any works are agreed. A temporary fence has been erected where the wall has been damaged. A funding source for repairs is required.

This issue is ongoing and I am in daily contact with Council trying to have this matter resolved.
