Over the coming days An Bord Pleanala is expected to announce their decision in respect of the Chinese International Trading Hub in Athlone. This project is so ambitious and offers so much employment potential that it could transform Athlone over the years ahead.
In my view it presents one of the most exciting and dynamic employment opportunities anywhere in Ireland. If the Bord give this project the thumbs up, I think we will see progress, perhaps smaller than originally envisaged, none the less it has the potential to be a key driver of this regions economy for decades to come.
